Obituary for Daniel Foster Andrews

Daniel Foster Andrews
Daniel Foster Andrews age 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 15th, 2017 at the Blueberry Hill Nursing Home in Beverly, Mass. Daniel was born in Salem, Massachusetts on March 3rd, 1940. He was the son of the late Mr. John and Mrs. Marion (McGuire) Andrews.

Daniel served his country as a member of the United States Navy, and was honorably discharged in 1959. While in the Navy Dan tried his hand/s at boxing and enjoyed watching the sport, as well as football, throughout his lifetime. Daniel also enjoyed listening to country music, playing cribbage, playing the harmonica, candlepin bowling and a nice bologna sandwich. Daniel was employed for many years in the metal fabrication industry as a machinist. Daniel had a good sense of humor, sharp wit and was a caring old school soul who always stood for the underdog. He was a man of few words, saying often ‘I’m just a simple man”. He had strong opinions, but rarely offered advice as he figured “people needed to learn for themselves”. He was not a man of monetary wealth, but gave faithfully to (Operation Smile) a charity for poor children born with cleft pallet.

Daniel is survived by his son and daughter in law, Mr. and Mrs. John Andrews of Beverly, his daughter, Tracy Andrews, of Portland Maine, his grandchildren, Linsey Andrews, Abagayle Andrews and Jack Andrews, numerous nieces and nephews, his companion of many years, Ethel Cox, of Newburyport, her children Michael, Mark and Sarah, their extended families, and many friends. Daniel is preceded in death by his 3 brothers, William R. Andrews, Arthur M. Andrews and Philip G. Andrews.

Visiting hours in the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly on Saturday April 22, 2017 from 3 to 5p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Prayer Service will follow at 5p.m. Daniel will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at the Bay Pines Veterans cemetery, St Petersburg, Florida. In lieu of flowers a donation could be made to this worthy cause in his memory. Information, directions, condolences to
